2012 Financial Aid
The 2012 Hadassah/ Young Judaea scholarship process is now closed. However, campers who registered after March 12, 2012, are still eligible for consideration. All scholarship requests for Tel Yehudah must go through this process in order to be considered. Hadassah/Young Judaea offers limited need-based scholarships for Young Judaea Programs. In order to be eligible you must first have registered to attend Tel Yehudah and have paid the minimum deposit. Late registrants (post-March 12) may apply for a Hadassah/Young Judaea Scholarship at: https://scholarships.youngjudaea.org/latereg/2012/dlesluph/
Completed applications are due by May 3, 2012. Please plan ahead so you do not miss the deadline! 2011 Tax Returns must be submitted in order for the application to be considered. Please also remember that in order to apply for financial aid we must have received your $500 deposit.
We also encourage you to pursue other sources of financial assistance together with your application for assistance from the Young Judaea/Hadassah Scholarship Fund. Many organizations have money designated for families to send their children to summer camp. However, you must take the initiative to find out the requirements for each organization.
An effective strategy would be to prepare a “resume” outlining what makes your child special, why the organization should invest in them, and how they will use the camp or Israel experience to enrich their community.
The following list will give many suggestions of sources to contact:
Jewish Community Centers or Y’s
Jewish Federation
Jewish Family Services
Bureau of Jewish Education
Synagogue (In addition to earmarked scholarship funds, many Rabbis have discretionary funds they can use for scholarships)
Hebrew Free Loan Society
Rotary Club
Kiwanis Club
Lions Club
Masonic Organization
Knights of Pythias
Unions
Professional Associations
Fraternal Organizations
Local Businesses (with Jewish owners)
Family Relatives
In addition, your local High School Guidance Counselor’s office may be a good source for referrals to other scholarship groups, foundations, or agencies.
If you have any questions regarding scholarships, please email scholarships@youngjudaea.org or call the Young Judaea New York office Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm eastern time at 212-303-4570. We would like to kindly request that you do not call the TY office to make inquiries about decisions regarding Hadassah/Young Judaea scholarships as you will be notified in writing as soon as decisions have been made by the scholarship committee.
