Dates

Havurah: Wednesday July 25 – Wednesday August 15 (3 weeks)

Eligibility

To be eligible for Havurah a teen must be entering grades 9 through 12* in fall 2012 and have at least one Jewish parent and at least one parent who was born in the former Soviet Union.

Tuition

The program’s tuition of $3,500 is being generously subsidized by grants from the Foundation for Jewish Camp and the Genesis Philanthropy Group allowing us to offer significantly reduced prices to parents.  Grant availability and amounts vary based on previous attendance at residential Jewish camp programs, including Havurah, and gradually decrease each year of attendance.  Only the first 100 campers will be eligible for the prices outlined in the chart below.  Subsequent registrants will only eligible for a portion of the grants. A new tuition chart will be published once we approach 100 registrations.

Genesis Fellowship

A part of the mission of Young Judaea and the Genesis Philanthropy Group is to raise the next generation of Jewish leaders and activists.  Teens from North America, entering grades 10 through 12 in fall 2012 and returning to Havurah are eligible to join the Genesis Fellowship if they have completed 20 hours of community service beyond school requirement, working for a Jewish organization in the 2011-2012 school year.

Genesis Fellows will participate in special programming dedicated to social activism and leadership, engage in camp improvement projects and meet with Genesis Philanthropy Group representatives.

Other Discounts

  • Early Bird discount of $175 will be applied toward the tuition for every camper who has registered and paid the minimum $500 deposit by February 29th.
  • Sibling Discount – $200 off total tuition amount is applicable for each additional camper from the same family.
  • Referral Discount – $150 will be applied toward the tuition of any registered camper for every new camper registered based on his/her recommendation.
  • Travel subsidies are available in excess of the first $100 (up to a set amount that varies city by city) for campers from the United States and Canada who fly to camp.
  • If needed, you may apply to Young Judaea for scholarship.  Limited scholarships are available based on financial need.  The scholarship process requires providing financial documents and completing an online application. More information and the scholarship application can be found at https://scholarships.youngjudaea.org/.  March 12st is the deadline for scholarship applications. You must first be registered for Havurah before applying for scholarship.
  • Additional scholarship may be available for your specific geographic area (ex: Northern California).  We encourage you to look to local Jewish organizations for possible financial assistance and/or call 877-HAVURAH to learn about resources in your area.
