Learn, Travel and Work With Leading Jewish Organizations
If you are looking for a meaningful and enriching experience that will propel your personal and professional growth, become a part of the Havurah Staff Development Program. By the end of the program you will:
- Improve your resume with work experience in a leading non-profit Jewish organization
- Expand your knowledge of Jewish history and culture
- Develop public speaking and group facilitation skills
- Get a fulfilling experience working as a counselor in a Jewish overnight summer camp for teens
- Spend time in the summer with Israeli peers and your new best friends from the program
About the program:
This dynamic training program is led by experts in the field of informal Jewish education. It will cover topics from group facilitation to Jewish history and provide tools for successful program-building and execution that you’ll also find useful in your professional and personal life. The program will commence in March 2012 and will include:
- Two training sessions running concurrently in New York City and Boston
- Two Sunday sessions in New York City
- A three day/three night weekend retreat in Upstate New York
- A four day educational seminar (June)
- Camp orientation (June, Camp Tel Yehudah)
- Apply your skills working as a counselor at the leading Jewish teen camp – Camp Tel Yehudah in a groundbreaking Havurah program (July 18th – August 16th) at Camp Tel Yehudah in Barryville, New YorK
Participation Requirements:
- Jewish young adult from a Russian-speaking family and
- a college student or a recent graduate
Preference will be given to the candidates, who:
- exhibit strong motivation to explore themes of their own identity and relationship with Israel and the Jewish people
- have previous experience working with children or teens
- display a heightened sense of responsibility and cultural sensitivity

Fees and compensation:
- Program participation fee: $350 refundable deposit (to be returned upon successful completion of the program)
- Compensation for the camp counselor position: based on experience.
