Sayeret Olami: International Leadership and Activism Institute
In Sayeret Olami, we will create an international cohort of diverse Jewish teens who understand today’s most pressing issues through a diverse Jewish lens, looking at Israel as a living laboratory of Jewish values. With this perspective and having acquired tools from leading Jewish and social activist professionals, Sayeret Olami graduates will be prepared to affect change locally, globally and in Israel.
You are:
- Passionate about activism, leadership, Israel and Jewish values
- Entering 11th or 12th grade (or the equivalent)
- Ready to affect change locally and globally
- Looking forward to being part of a diverse and international community of teen activists
- Excited to make friends from the United States, Israel and around the world
In Sayeret Olami you will…
- Meet Jewish teens from around the world in a diverse Pluralist community
- Meet with and learn from leaders from the Jewish and social activist world
- Gain practical skills to affect change in your community and the world
- Develop a deepened knowledge of and affect an issue of your choice
- Participate in a “Tikun Team” that will focus your skills on affecting change around a specific issue today
- Visit leaders and organizations at the center of global activism and policy in Washington, DC and New York City
- Practice leadership skills by leading programs for younger campers
- Deepen your understanding and gain multiple perspectives of modern Israel
- Develop and sharpen your activist skills through specialized workshops
- Develop a project to be implemented globally after camp with other Sayeret Olami grads
- Receive a certificate of Completion of the Sayeret Olami Leadership and Activism Institute
You will participate in workshops such as:
- Social Media Organizing
- Speak Up – Public Speaking and Communication
- iThink Israel – learning about Israel from multiple perspectives
- Grassroots Organizing
- Show Me the Money! Jewish teen philanthropy (includes grant writing)
- Arts As Activism
- Writing
- Organizing Up – finding and working with community partners
- Tikun B’Yachad – models of global Jewish cooperative activist efforts (Agohozo, AJWS, Project Better Place, Let My People Go, etc)
